Happy Easter! Joyeuses Pâques!
Easter bells are a Christian tradition that dates back centuries.
Church bells are silent from Maundy Thursday (the day before Good Friday) until Easter Mass.
It is then said that the bells fly to Rome to be blessed by the Pope and then return at dawn on Easter, ringing joyfully to announce the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As a kid, basket in hand, I remember staring at the sky, hoping to catch sight of the bells as they were supposed to drop their (chocolate) eggs in our garden.
I found a lot of eggs, but somehow the bells remained invisible...
Well, either they were flying super fast or I wasn't looking in the right direction…
I always wondered why the eggs were so hard to find though. It's as if the bells didn't want me to find them.
However my parents really were good at finding the ones my sister and I missed.
They must have seen the bells in action!
